Joseph
Interprets
Pharaoh's
Dream
The
story
of
Joseph
and
his
interpretation
of
Pharaoh's
dream
is
a
well-known
tale
from
the
Bible.
Pharaoh,
the
ruler
of
Egypt,
had
a
series
of
troubling
dreams
that
none
of
his
advisors
could
interpret.
It
was
then
that
he
heard
of
Joseph,
a
Hebrew
who
was
known
for
his
ability
to
interpret
dreams.
Joseph
was
brought
before
Pharaoh,
who
recounted
his
dreams.
In
the
first
dream,
seven
fat
cows
were
followed
by
seven
thin
and
emaciated
cows
that
ate
the
fat
cows.
In
the
second
dream,
seven
healthy
and
full
ears
of
corn
were
followed
by
seven
withered,
thin
ears
of
corn
that
consumed
the
healthy
ears.
Joseph
listened
carefully
and
then
provided
an
interpretation
for
the
dreams.
He
explained
that
the
two
dreams
were
in
fact
one,
and
that
they
represented
seven
years
of
abundance
followed
by
seven
years
of
famine.
He
advised
Pharaoh
to
find
a
wise
man
to
oversee
the
gathering
and
storing
of
food
during
the
years
of
abundance
so
that
they
would
have
enough
to
survive
the
years
of
famine.
Impressed
with
Joseph's
wisdom,
Pharaoh
appointed
him
as
overseer
of
the
entire
land
of
Egypt.
Joseph
quickly
put
his
plan
into
action
and
oversaw
the
gathering
and
storing
of
food
during
the
years
of
abundance.
When
the
famine
arrived,
Egypt
was
the
only
country
that
had
enough
food
to
eat.
People
came
from
all
around
to
buy
grain
from
Egypt,
including
Joseph's
own
brothers
who
had
sold
him
into
slavery
many
years
before.
Joseph
forgave
his
brothers
and
welcomed
them
to
Egypt,
where
they
settled
and
prospered.
The
story
of
Joseph
and
his
interpretation
of
Pharaoh's
dream
teaches
us
the
importance
of
wisdom,
planning,
and
foresight.
It
also
shows

and

today.
